Elmont UFSD only receive $124,862 Increase of State Aid PDF Print E-mail

According to the New York State figures of the proposed 2012-2013 budget, Elmont UFSD may receive an increase of only $124,862 in state aid. This figure represents an increase of only 0.72%. This is lower than neighboring districts such as Franklin Square with a proposed increase of 2.71% ($145,109) and Floral Park increase of 2.81% ($81,114). In regards to Sewanhaka, the Central High School District may see a 5.08% increase of state aid bringing $1,226,709; a figure that only represents 0.76% of the current year’s budget.

Residential burglaries are invasions of privacy and are threats to the safety and quality of life enjoyed by Hempstead Town residents. Many burglars prey on our most vulnerable citizens, tending to target the senior citizens in our community. Indeed, there have been nine “distraction burglaries” and attemptedrobberies in our area since December 9th, whereby criminals used various methods of deception to distract homeowners to gain access to valuables inside.

To assist senior citizens in filing their income tax returns, Hempstead Town’s Department of Senior Enrichment is seeking volunteers to help run the town’s free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA is offered in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
