Mark Bonilla, the clerk for the Town of Hempstead was charged Friday with official misconduct, second-degree attempted coercion and petty larceny according to a criminal complaint. Through the town attorney's office investigation of complaints and credible allegations of sexual harassment the town handed the results of its investigation over to Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice. Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray was "disgusted" and felt "personally offended" by such conduct while calling Bonilla to step down.
