Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano today announced that because of the impending arrival of inclement weather caused by Hurricane Earl, the Tony Orlando concert scheduled for this Friday, Sept. 3 at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010.

Nassau County Department of Health is reporting the first death associated with West Nile virus (WNV) in a Nassau County resident this year.  The individual is an adult over the age of 80 who lived in the Town of North Hempstead. The resident became ill on August 8th with fever, weakness and altered mental status.

With Hurricane Earl gathering strength off the south eastern coast, County Executive Ed Mangano today announced that the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has begun its 120-hour hurricane window as it prepares for the possibility of Earle reaching Long Island.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Nassau County Police Commissioner Lawrence W. Mulvey will join members of the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to discuss “Operation Gateway” at a press conference on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Theodore Roosevelt Park marina located in Oyster Bay.
